Shaman to the Stars
10:09 PMAs a shaman, I don't believe in coincidences. When concurrences occur, I consider them to be signs, either warnings, or portents of good things to come. So when I was asked to perform a shamanic journey with British international television and movie star, Anna Friel, as edits wrapped for SPELL FIRE, Book 3: The Teen Wytche Saga, I took it as a good sign.
An hour before sunset, a cold breeze cut across the sand and
rock labyrinth, raising gooseflesh beneath my long purple dress. My friend
Melissa drummed a slow, steady heartbeat from the center of the labyrinth while
I sat nearly knee-to-knee with Anna Friel and her
friend, Lauren. Ignoring the drone filming us from the sky and the swarm of
camera operators surrounding us, I conducted a shamanic journey.
No, it wasn’t a scene out of my new release, SPELL FIRE, but
it could have been. SPELL FIRE features shamans and takes place, in part, in the
high desert town of Joshua Tree, where we filmed the shamanic journey for
British Airways and Visit California.
Coyotes hiding nearby began yipping as soon as the filming ended. The eerie sound wrapped around the labyrinth. Orange light filled the desert sky.
One last amazing sign greeted us as we exited the freeway. Melissa gasped. I followed her gaze and spotted a fiery ball arcing across the sky. I'm glad we both saw it, because it wasn't mentioned in any local news reports... Oddly, a similar fiery meteor was spotted over Copenhagen on the same night.
Maybe it was a dragon.
SPELL FIRE
Ainslie Avalon-Bennett works hard to hide her Crazy Girl

can’t shake the depression and obsessive-compulsive disorder that once landed
her in a mental ward. As Christmas nears, she meets Thor Grael, a dragon shaman
who spikes her pulse and calms her OCD. But will Ainslie lose him once he
discovers her past? Or will Thor’s deadly secret be their undoing?
