Mabon, the second of
three harvest festivals, occurs on the autumnal equinox (September 22,
2017). The festival name appears to have been coined by Aidan Kelly, a cofounder of
the Covenant of the Goddess, who around 1970, named the sabbat after Mabon, the Welsh God. Mabon's story of being kidnapped and brought to the Underworld is the male version of the story of Persephone, whose mother, the earth goddess Demeter, refused to nurture the earth until her daughter was freed from the Underworld.
Mabon marks the first day of autumn. It is a time to feast, rejoice over
the grain harvest, and thank the earth for her bounty. With day and night in
complete balance, Mabon is also a time for:
·
Reflection.
Mabon is perfectly balanced between the past and the future. Is your life in
balance? What have you sown? What have you reaped?
·
Justice. In
the tarot, Mabon is represented by the Justice card. The eleventh major arcana
card, Justice marks the halfway point in the Fool’s Journey. In some decks it
is called the Web, reminding us that all things are connected. Our actions have
repercussions throughout the Web of Life.
·
Release.
The days shorten after Mabon. In the life cycle of the God and Goddess, Mabon
denotes the point when the Sun God weakens and prepares for his death at
Samhain. The Goddess is in her second trimester of pregnancy.
My challenge this Mabon is to bring my shaman and writing careers into balance. Usually the two nurture each other. But at the moment, my shaman/Reiki Master services are in high demand because of an unexpected crop of cancer diagnoses. At the same time, I have two books releasing back-to-back. My sweet Young Adult romance, "Covert Hearts" appears in SECOND CHANCES; A ROMANCE WRITERS OF AMERICA COLLECTION. And my magical Lady of the Lake Two Realms novella, THE AMBER ELIXIR is available on preorder for an October 3, 2017 release.
Can a forbidden love survive Merlin's curse?
The Amber Elixir - an Arthurian tale of magic, shape-shifters, and the quest to win back a forbidden love - is now available in paperback amazon
